Captain David Marionneau, Ponant’s Director of Marine Operations Asia Pacific, conveyed his excitement about this latest milestone, saying “What a successful day it was as we took Paspaley Pearl through all her required operational and safety manoeuvres.

“The sea trials were a resounding success. She exhibited superb manoeuvring capabilities and promises unparalleled comfort with her latest technology, including the quiet Azimuth propulsion system.

“The favourable sea conditions allowed for effective testing of the ship’s stabilisers and bow and stern thrusters, all of which performed excellently and will ensure maximum stability and comfort for our guests. The technical crew was proud to be part of this exciting moment,” he stated.

Paspaley Pearl, originally launched in late 2021, is due to undergo a multi-million-dollar refit and will emerge with refreshed livery, newly designed interiors and expansive open decks, featuring multiple dining, lounge and bar options.

“We’re excited at the opportunity to offer our guests a superyacht-style experience while delivering transformational visits to remote and unique destinations,” Captain David added.

Paspaley Pearl will commence operations in East Indonesia in January 2025. With just 30 guests and 21 crew, including four expedition guides, her inauguration will mark the beginning of a new era of boutique expedition travel within the Asia Pacific region.
