Legendary Oyster Yachts design
Oyster yachts are designed to be sailed in the harshest conditions, all the while keeping you and your loved ones safe in comfort. Our owners are explorers at heart, so we lovingly handcraft every vessel to make sure our yachts will not let them down. This expert design and craftsmanship combined with first-class service allows our Oyster Family to live their dreams and adventure to their heart’s content.
The design life of an Oyster starts with our collaboration with Humphreys Yacht Design; one of Britain’s longest established yacht design and naval architecture businesses. Humphreys combines tried-and-tested knowledge of what works with the latest yachting technology and cutting-edge ideas, creating exquisite hull lines, foil design and rig configurations.
We have also partnered with renowned maritime classification society Lloyd’s Register to ensure that each Oyster yacht meets the highest standard of oceangoing safety. Lloyd’s inspects the design, materials and build quality of all new build Oyster hulls and decks, meaning every one of our yachts carries a Lloyd’s Register Moulding certificate upon completion.
The project is then handed over to our in-house sailing yacht builders for our trademark interior and deck design. Working with experienced structural, mechanical and electrical engineers, our design team ensure that each Oyster is pure perfection down to the last detail. This includes things as seemingly small, but in reality so important, as hand-holds right where you need them and mechanical installations that can be serviced and maintained at sea, meaning you’ll never need to interrupt your adventure. It is these intricate details that make our yachts best-in-class, whether you wish to circumnavigate the globe or cruise leisurely along the French Riviera.
Expert craftsmanship
True Oyster Yachts craftsmanship began in Norfolk in 1973, where the Oyster team met Landamores – a highly-experienced wooden boat builder. Drawing on Landamores 50 years of experience, it wasn’t long before this duo were joined by another Norfolk shipyard, Windboats, founded in 1920 by master craftsman and yacht designer, Graham Bunn.
Together they built over 700 yachts before Oyster took over Landamore’s new Norfolk facility, hiring staff from both companies and bringing the manufacturing in-house. This yard – Oyster Yachts Wroxham – remains one of our most important build sites, along with Oyster Yachts Southampton.
Today, this passion for building the world’s finest bluewater yachts still burns strong, from the quality of our materials to the dedication of our craftsmen and women, some of whom have been with us for generations. That’s why designing your very own Oyster yacht with us is such a joy – a true one-of-a-kind experience.
