Sunseeker has debuted its new Ocean 156 at the 2024 Southampton International Boat Show, 13 to 22 September. This new model demonstrates Sunseeker’s approach to yacht design, featuring a focus on maximising space, layout flexibility and luxury.
The UK-based luxury boatbuilder says the new Ocean 156 is designed to offer more interior space than comparable yachts and introduces a new naming convention that reflects the yacht’s gross tonnage rather than its length.
The Ocean 156 is part of Sunseeker’s current model range, which includes seven lines from 38 to 161 feet: Performance, Predator, Sport Yacht, Manhattan, Yacht, Ocean, and Superyacht.
“The global debut of the Ocean 156 is a proud moment for Sunseeker,” says Andrea Frabetti, chief executive officer at Sunseeker International. “It showcases our ability to push the boundaries of yacht design, delivering an extraordinary amount of space and flexibility in a model of this size. We’re delighted to unveil it to the world at Southampton.”
The upper deck of the Ocean 156 includes a central pilothouse with a single helm, access to the forward terrace, and sliding doors to the aft fly deck. The main deck features uninterrupted views from bow to stern, and multiple layout options are available to maximise flexibility. The yacht accommodates up to 10 people, with an option to place the owner’s stateroom on the main deck. The forward and aft upper decks offer various furniture configurations, while the beach club includes Sunseeker’s X-Tend convertible seating.
The yacht’s enclosed upper deck and single helm station provide 1,770 square feet of internal floor space across three levels, along with substantial exterior spaces designed for extended time on the water.
The design aims to offer a balanced experience for those seeking long-term use at sea.
Externally, the upper deck areas feature casual seating or an optional spa tub at the front, and space for furniture and a wet bar with BBQ at the back. The foredeck has a flush floor, with anchoring equipment concealed beneath. Seating arrangements can be converted into a sunbed, and a wet bar with a sink and fridge is also included.
The yacht also has a hi-lo hydraulic platform with a 550kg capacity, suitable for a Williams 435 SportJet, and an optional hydraulic sea stair for water access.
The interior of the Ocean 156 offers several layout options, allowing owners to customise the space according to their preferences. The main deck saloon features full-height glazing and a 360-degree panoramic view, with an open-plan layout that can be modified based on the owner’s choices. The space can include an open galley, dining area and a bar, with sliding doors on both sides to connect the interior with the exterior. A floating staircase is centrally located.
The Ocean 156 accommodates an owner’s stateroom option on the main deck that offers both impressive views and direct foredeck access via a wide sliding door option. Configured with the king-size bed athwartship and en suite to starboard, the wardrobe and dressing area can be found to port. On the lower deck, there is an alternative full-beam owner’s stateroom that features storage, a vanity desk and a connecting en suite with twin basins.
Forward, the lower accommodation also comprises a forward VIP and two guest cabins with an option for the port cabin to be configured as a twin with sliding berths, accommodating up to ten people in total.
The lower deck has a completely level floor between all cabins, something that is rare on a yacht of its size.
A new range of fabrics and finishes is available exclusively on the Ocean 156, including contrasting light and dark schemes. The interior design was developed in collaboration with Design Unlimited, which says it has achieved a modern and cohesive aesthetic throughout the yacht.
Crew accommodation for three is located forward of the engine room, with built-in appliances and worktop space.
The Ocean 156 measures 25.14 metres in length, with a beam of 6.56 metres and a draft of 1.86 metres. It has a fuel capacity of 8,500 litres, and can reach speeds of up to 25 knots, with a range of up to 900 nautical miles at 10 knots. Stabilisation options include fins or gyro systems, helping to provide a smoother experience in various conditions.
The yacht is powered by twin MAN V8 1300 or twin MAN V12 1650 engines.
