With builders worldwide posting extraordinary numbers of orders for models in the 60- to 80-foot range, the S75 – with its sleek good looks, super-seaworthy hull, longer-range capabilities and generous deck layouts – is a shoo-in for leading contender even before its global launch in late 2022.

There’s no mistaking the S-line’s DNA in the styling of the new S75, and that continues right down to the functional areas of the yacht. For example, there’s a serviceable utility deck atop the coachroof, which can serve as stowage for some serious toys or a tender.

There’s also the now familiar adventure deck aft, where copious shade from the extended hard top offers protection from the midday sun, and which integrates perfectly with the elongated swim platform. It offers a grill, top-loading fridge, alfresco seating and dining, as well as a connection to the galley and saloon.

The lower deck shares layouts and engineering with the M75, meaning four cabins including a full-beam master amidships, a forward VIP and two further guest double/twins, three of which are ensuite. There’s also a utility cabin aft that can serve as a workshop for owner-operators or a crew cabin with ensuite.

At main deck level, the saloon benefits from extensive glazing and low sills, while various seating and dining configurations are available. Optional two-stage vista windows add to the sunroof’s open-air connection, while electric roll-down breeze-away blinds offer protection for the aft cockpit.

Considerable owner feedback has informed the design. “It spans more than two years of concept development and planning, developing the hull and engineering platform to cater for the [M75 and S75],” confirms Tom Barry-Cotter, Maritimo’s Design Director.

“The S75 sees us creating our most progressive S-Series vessel to date while retaining the Maritimo DNA of long-range efficiency, superb ride, the safety of walkaround decks, and superior quality from construction through to furnishings.”

The long-range element comes courtesy of a combined 10,000-litre fuel capacity, and there’s also plenty of long-range capability in maximised storage for tender, toys, victuals, and dry stores. The S75 has what the builder says is the most capacious lazarette on any Maritimo to date beneath the adventure deck.

“Being liveaboard-ready is just as integral an element of the Maritimo DNA as engineering and performance,” says Barry-Cotter. “Our long-range galleys are considered more like residential kitchens, always featuring domestic-sized appliances, significant workspaces and built-for-purpose storage capability, such as our full-height pull-out pantries, and full-height refrigeration.”

Engine options start with a pair of Scania Di16 engines throwing out 2,300mhp combined, with twin MTU 10V2000M86s or 10V2000M96Ls (for 2,760mhp or 3,250mhp combined, respectively) available as options. “The hallmark of any Maritimo is the inline powertrains, and shallow shaft angle for optimal efficiency,” Barry-Cotter adds. “In the case of the S75, this also means a 1.5-metre draft, which allows for up-close anchoring anywhere in the world.”

The S75 also draws on Maritimo’s patented monocoque system – which uses a bonded internal liner running almost the entire length of the hull – to ensure a solid, reliable and stable sea-boat. “You may not see this unless you’re in places like the engine room, where the high-gloss gelcoat finish presents itself,” Barry-Cotter points out. “However, you will notice the distinctly higher levels of comfort it delivers via lower vibrations and noise, as too the confidence you’ll have when enduring rough weather.”

For projected performance, we’ll have to wait a little longer for exact figures.

“We expect the S75 to be slightly less weight, with less windage in comparison to our M-series, estimating 1 to 2 knots greater performance at wide-open throttle,” Barry-Cotter offers.

“We’ll release performance figures later in the year,” he adds, “with the global launch.”

It’s clear that Maritimo’s ambitious design development and model launch schedule remains front and centre of the marque’s ongoing strategy, and with the market hot for hot models it’s not hard to see the S75 being a popular model both at home and overseas. Indeed, Barry-Cotter says they have already taken multiple orders for the S75 and that build slots for Maritimo 75s now stretch into 2025.

The S75 comes with the key facet of all Maritimos – being built for and tested in Australia’s no-nonsense coastal waters. “At Maritimo, our main focus is around three specific elements – capacity, capability and comfort – and we pride ourselves on both our tough and dependable construction and our economical cruising performance,” Barry-Cotter concludes.
