Along with exhibition halls showcasing the latest vessels and watersports technology, boot 2024 will feature several programs recognising achievement and discussing industry issues.

Blue Innovation Dock is a new platform for sustainability and change, bringing together visionaries, investors and politicians to make the industry fit for the future. Speakers this year will include Luca Bassani, founder of Wally; Kris van Dijck, who is a member of the European Parliament’s European Conservatives and Reformists Group and member of the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy; Emily Penn, sailor and advocate who will present the urgent state of our oceans and the planet, setting the stage for why innovation in the boating industry is more critical than ever; Professor Stefan Gössling, whose extensive research encompasses the environmental impacts of tourism and transportation; and Martin Fischer, Head designer at Ineos Britannia.

Then there’s the Ocean Tribute Award. Every year, boot Düsseldorf awards together with the partners of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and the German Ocean Foundation environmentally friendly projects and technical innovations for better climate and cleaner seas.

Participants must ensure that their projects contribute to the sustainable improvement and cleaning of the oceans. Whether technical innovations, development of research capacities, public awareness work or reduction of waste and nutrients, the protection of the oceans is the aim of the Award.

Finalists this year include SeaLabs, The Healthy Seas Foundation, Entereon, High Seas Alliance and Ocean Material. The Jury panel can be seen here.

Voting is complete and the winner of the Ocean Tribute Award will now be determined by public voting and the final verdict of the top-class jury and will be honoured at the Blue Motion Night held during boot 2025.
