30 January 2025

Have you ever gazed at a mushroom and thought, Wow, that’s some seriously aesthetic fungus? Do you secretly suspect that the fairy tale forests of Tasmania might be hiding something more exciting than just a few well-camouflaged wombats?

Then listen up, because Corinna Wilderness Village is about to become your fungi-filled paradise. Nestled deep in the Tarkine Rainforest, where nature thrives and mobile reception politely declines, Corinna is hosting two glorious fungi-focused retreats in May and June.

Expect immersive walks, jaw-dropping photography opportunities, and the kind of deep nature connection that makes you want to quit your job and start foraging full-time. (Not that we recommend that, but, you know, options.)

Fungus Photography with Luke O’Brien

31 May – 3 June 2025
For people who whisper “work it” to mushrooms before taking a shot!

Join Tasmania’s own photography wizard Luke O’Brien for a three-night adventure capturing the strange, beautiful and wildly underrated world of fungi.

You’ll learn how to photograph these tiny masterpieces without falling face-first into a mossy log, plus get expert tips on lighting, composition and camera settings.

And because no one likes a bunch of unedited camera roll chaos, there’s a post-processing session where you’ll refine your shots and learn to make them look even more magical. Expect hands-on guidance, plenty of laughs and more fungi facts than you ever knew you needed.

Discover Fungi with Alison Pouliot

3 June – 6 June 2025
For those who want to go full mycologist (or at least impress people at dinner parties).

If you’re more about learning than lenses, this one’s for you. The brilliant Alison Pouliot, expert mycologist and all-around fungi enthusiast, will take you deep into the forest to uncover the secret life of mushrooms, why they matter, how they work, and whether or not they’re secretly running the planet. (Spoiler: they kind of are.)

Expect interactive rainforest walks, fascinating discussions on fungi’s cultural and ecological role, and hands-on experiences that’ll make you look at your next plate of mushrooms with deep respect and possibly mild fear.

Where you’ll be staying (and what it’ll cost you)

Accommodation is in Corinna’s famously cosy, eco-friendly cabins, meaning all the charm of the wilderness without the trauma of sleeping in a damp tent.

Package Prices

Queen Cottage (1 Person): $1149

Booking & Enquiries (AKA, Don’t Miss Out)

These packages are exclusive, limited, and likely to be snapped up by fungi fanatics faster than a truffle-hunting pig on espresso.

Why Corinna? (Besides the mushrooms, obviously)

Corinna Wilderness Lodge sits smack in the middle of Tasmania’s Tarkine rainforest, a place so untouched and spectacular that it makes you feel simultaneously at one with nature and slightly guilty for ever having used plastic bags.

Sustainability is at the heart of everything they do, and when you’re not marvelling at fungi, you can explore the wild via hikes, kayak trips or cruises, all while breathing the freshest air imaginable.

So, if you fancy wandering through one of the world’s most beautiful forests, learning about nature’s weirdest life forms, and maybe discovering a new obsession, Corinna is calling.

And honestly? You’d be mad not to answer.
