“More importantly, it’s the Moonen team members whose pride shines through in the manufacturing of their ships. Matthew and Louise Baxter, the new Moonen shipyard owners, are tirelessly committed to continue the enduring legacy of the Moonen brand.
“We see them as our business and family partners in building our world-class ship that will stand the test of time. We are excited about this endeavour and a lifelong relationship with the Baxters and the Moonen family.”
Moonen Yachts was acquired by the Australian couple Matthew and Louise Baxter in mid 2019, who first discovered Moonen Yachts while sailing on Pittwater in Sydney when they came across the Moonen yacht Aurora.
Matthew Baxter said recently, “Our Moonen journey has been the most rewarding experience over the past fourteenth months.”
“Moonen, apart from being an iconic Dutch brand, is staffed by the talent that is not easily found these days. They are all, without exception, artisans from a past world. The leadership team headed by Marianne Hendriks is excellent and capable of taking the company far.”
“As a team, we want to build on the recent successes of the yard by introducing new designs, but remembering the Moonen DNA that made them the brand many discerning clients aspired to own.
“Many of our owners have expressed the desire for Moonen to retain their DNA, and have clearly asked us not to try and make them look like spacecraft that can go to the moon.
“If a client wants a classical Moonen with a modern approach, we can give them just that, but if a client wants to show off this week’s latest fashion, a Moonen is not for them.”
