Italian shipyard Baglietto certainly caught clients’ imaginations with its T-Line range, encompassing the 52-metre T52 and the 60.6-metre T60. The Francesco Paszkowski-designed models, which feature aluminium construction and displacement hulls, are proving a winner for the yard, with eight T52s already sold and the first T60 also recently signed.
The first of the T52s – hull no. 10238 – has now been launched, featuring a hybrid propulsion system that allows a variety of operating and cruising modes to curb consumption and environmental impact. The installed battery bank allows for up to 10 hours at anchor without using the generators.
Cruising in economical diesel-electric mode, the yacht can achieve a range of 7,600 nautical miles, but if speed is of the essence the twin MTU 16V200M86 engines offer a more conventional form of navigation with a top speed of 17 knots and a transatlantic range of 3,600 nautical miles at cruising speed.
The lines penned by Francesco Paszkowski Design reinterpret the classical design elements of Baglietto’s traditional steel displacement yachts under 500 gross tons in a highly contemporary, distinctive style and convey a very strong personality. The same is true throughout the yacht’s interiors, which were also designed by Francesco Paszkowski Design in cooperation with Margherita Casprini.
“This is a very much anticipated moment,” comments Baglietto’s CCO Fabio Ermetto. “Seeing one of our vessels touch the water is always incredibly exciting for us, but when this happens with the first one in a new line, the excitement is even greater.
“Hull No. 10238 is also the first model in this line to mount a hybrid propulsion system, marking a crucial step also in terms of research and development in our shipyard’s path towards sustainable yachting – a path Baglietto is pursuing with firm determination.”
The T52 offers other design features that cater to current market trends. Close contact with the sea is ensured by the open stern that features a beach club that develops over three levels and which has already become a hallmark of Baglietto’s new direction. The large pool can easily be concealed thanks to an ingenious up-down movable floor that further extends the available deck surface when the pool is not being used.
The sundeck is another highlight of the T52, stretching approximately 24 metres and marking another distinguishing feature on Baglietto yachts. Indeed, it follows in the wake of Baglietto’s traditional displacement yachts.
