Outfitting activities are advancing at The Italian Sea Group’s Marina di Carrara shipyard for the third 53-metre motor yacht in the Admiral 50 series, part of the semi-custom Admiral line.
The yard says construction of the hull and superstructure is progressing according to the production schedule so far. Installation and optimisation of onboard systems are ongoing, and will be followed by the outfitting phase. The Italian Sea Group (TISG) focuses on “semi-custom production,” exclusively using aluminium in its yachts.
The Admiral 53m superyacht has an innovative e-Motion hybrid propulsion system. This system comprises two MAN diesel engines, four variable-speed generators, two permanent magnet electric motors, and a large lithium polymer battery pack. The propulsion system allows several operational modes, including using the diesel main engines and electric alternators to supply power for all onboard services during navigation, with the generators switched off while the batteries recharge.
The yacht’s variable-speed generators are designed to adjust their output depending on load requirements, which reduces fuel consumption. The battery pack further enables the yacht to function for about eight hours with zero emissions, no noise pollution, and no vibrations. This capability allows the vessel to enter ports in electric mode, while docking operations can be carried out without the use of the main engines or generators.
The batteries are equipped with a “peak-shaving” function, which prevents the need to activate additional generators during short-term load peaks and ensures uninterrupted operation in the event of a temporary loss of shore power, a common issue in some ports, thereby preventing potential blackouts.
“This fully aluminium, shallow-draft superyacht, the first hybrid model in the Admiral 50 line, confirms our ongoing commitment to sustainability,” says Giovanni Costantino, founder and CEO of The Italian Sea Group. “I am particularly proud that today most of our projects focus on hybrid innovation, a journey we began in 2016 with the launch of the 55-metre Admiral Quinta Essentia superyacht, the world’s first hybrid-powered yacht in its size range.”
The design of the Admiral 53m, characterised by the absence of visual barriers, promotes a continuous and natural flow between exterior and interior spaces. Large volumes and structural detailing further enhance this fluid connection.
The interior of the yacht offers a refined and welcoming atmosphere, with a careful selection of natural materials, including wood, stone and textured metals.
The owner’s suite, located on the upper deck, features panoramic views on three sides and opens onto a private forward-facing deck. The Admiral 53m can accommodate up to 12 guests across five spacious suites located on the lower deck, as well as the owner’s cabin situated on the main deck. Delivery of the yacht is expected by the end of 2025.
The Italian Sea Group is listed on Euronext Star Milan, and specialises in the construction and refit of motor yachts and sailing yachts up to 140 metres in length. The company operates with a number of well-known brands, including Admiral, Tecnomar, Perini Navi, and Picchiotti.
TISG also manages yacht maintenance and refit services through its NCA Refit business unit. In partnership with Italian luxury brands, including Giorgio Armani and Automobili Lamborghini, TISG continues to develop innovative yacht designs, such as the Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63, a limited-edition motor yacht.
