Italian boatbuilders AB Yachts and Maiora introduced three new projects during a press gathering at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, which took place in Florida from 30 October to 3 November 2024.
The two brands are both owned by the Next Yacht Group, which was formerly known as the Fipa Group. The trio of news came as a surprise to many in attendance, who were expecting only one new model to be revealed.
Roy Capasso, head of sales for AB Yachts, presented the AB95, a model incorporating innovations from the AB110, previously shown at European boat shows. He explained how the AB95 integrates the brand’s 30-year history of engineering, reliability, propulsion systems and construction materials with a new design by architect Marco Casamonti of Archea Associati.
The AB95 is available in two versions. The first, following the approach of its larger counterpart, combines spacious social areas with the brand’s signature sporty technology.
This version emphasises comfort, enhanced liveability and reduced noise and vibrations.
Notable features on the AB95 include a flybridge with reverse glazing for increased space and improved sea views, accessible from the aft deck via two carbon-fibre external staircases.
AB Yachts says the second version, the AB95 S, targets owners seeking a dynamic experience, with a design that prioritises speed and performance. The model features a convertible roof integrated into its streamlined profile, an advanced propulsion system, and enhanced manoeuvrability. This version is described as a “racing car” of the sea, blending efficient performance with comfort.
Both models share key elements of the brand’s design ethos, including ease of manoeuvre, high efficiency at cruising speeds, vibration minimisation, and a focus on safety. The interiors and exteriors maintain a seamless design, allowing for customisation to reflect each owner’s preferences and to provide close interaction with the sea. And, with a draught of 1.2 metres, the AB95 allows for versatile navigation in different environments.
“This model embodies a new style of cruising – powerful, safe, efficient, noiseless, and immensely fascinating,” says Capasso. “We are certain the AB95 is going to meet, and exceed, our owners’ wishes and requirements.”
Maiora shared its own update during the press event, with Daniele Caronna, head of sales, revealing details of the new Exuma 36, designed by Quartostile for exteriors and Acube Design for interiors. Maiora says this new yacht is built on a multi-award-winning model that combines the space and luxury of traditional flybridge yachts with the exploratory nature of an adventure vessel.
The Exuma 36 reaches speeds of up to 35 knots and, with a 1.4-metre draught, is engineered for smooth navigation in areas like Mediterranean beaches and Caribbean waters.
“This model’s brilliant performances and extraordinary onboard liveability are quite extraordinary on the market,” says Caronna, “and this new 36-metre model is definitely going to stand out from the crowd of traditional yachts.”
