The Columbus Custom Hybrid 50m M/Y Anjelif is a new hybrid superyacht that exemplifies the Italian shipyard’s expertise in the construction of custom-built projects. Columbus Yachts, a brand of Palumbo Superyachts, says Anjelif is based on the knowledge gained from the previous Sport Hybrid 40m models, the first superyacht to receive RINA classification with the “Hybrid Propulsion Y” notation.

Constructed entirely of aluminium, the M/Y Anjelif features a muscular exterior and sophisticated interiors. The design integrates attention to detail, with a focus on maintaining a seamless connection between the interior and exterior architecture. Anjelif has been custom-built to the specifications of owner Maria Francesca Angelini, who sought a blend of technological innovation and refined design, starting with the hybrid diesel-electric propulsion system.

The yacht is equipped with two technological systems for air sanitation. One system uses cold plasma to purify air from external sources for ventilation and air conditioning, suppressing bacteria and viruses. The second system automates the sanitation of the interior spaces at scheduled intervals.

These systems were developed with the assistance of project engineer Giuseppe Sole, who also collaborated with the owner on an air conditioning flow system aimed at maximising comfort while remaining unobtrusive.

The vessel’s design reflects the owner’s vision, supported by architect Marco Casali from Too-Design for the exterior and the shipyard’s collaboration with Hydro Tec for naval engineering. The interior design prioritises natural and ecological materials, with particular attention to Taurini stones selected to maintain clean and fresh air quality.

The transom area includes a relaxation zone, with a central transformer and a fold-down lateral platform on the starboard side, forming a beach club area. The main deck features a swimming pool with counter-current and heating systems, surrounded by sunbathing areas. An adjacent bar, finished with bleached oak and polished steel, complements the pool area.

Inside, the main deck lounge offers floor-to-ceiling views and a custom-designed sofa arranged in semicircles.

A mechanical system allows for the sofa sections to rotate, optimising the layout for viewing the large television screen.

The upholstery, which was provided by fashion house Armani, is champagne-coloured with a fine weave.

The owner’s quarters include a massage room, office, gym with Technogym equipment, and a large wardrobe. The ensuite bathroom features a double sink in yellow quartz, a jacuzzi, a mosaic shower/hammam, and an infrared sauna. The cabin also includes a fixed balcony providing views and a private relaxation space.

The interior materials feature natural oak, canaletto walnut, white lacquered wood, and matt rose gold metal connectors. The walls include backlit precious stones, and lighting throughout the yacht is customisable for guest comfort. A fully equipped kitchen is located on the main deck, with a dumbwaiter connecting to other decks.

Below deck, there are four guest cabins with a total of 11 beds. These cabins have large windows and are chromatically designed to match the stone sinks in the ensuite bathrooms. Two of the cabins feature a 2-in-1 system that converts twin beds into a double bed, while the other two cabins can function as a large VIP bedroom or two separate rooms, divided by a sliding door.

The upper deck features a sunpad and a custom outdoor table in natural teak, seating up to 10 people. The dining room includes an oval 10-seater table with an oyster shell top and canaletto walnut inserts. The table can be disassembled to create two round tables, transforming the dining area into a game room. On this deck you’ll find the helm station — fully upholstered in leather — and the captain’s cabin and service pantry.

At the bow, a multifunctional area includes sun beds and a helicopter platform that can be converted into an open-air cinema.

The sun deck offers an extensive layout with adjustable sun loungers, a round teak table, a bar with oak slats, and an ivory C-shaped sofa. The deck is topped off with a custom jacuzzi surrounded by sun pads and seating areas.

The crew quarters accommodate 11 crew members in seven cabins, with additional space for others if required.

Anjelif has a gross tonnage of 499 GT and can achieve a maximum speed of 20 knots, with a range of 3,200 nautical miles at 12 knots. The yacht is powered by two MTU 16V 2000 M96L diesel engines of 1,939 kW each, and two 175 kW Kohler electric generators. The hybrid system, developed in collaboration with Siemens, offers three operating modes.

In diesel mode, the yacht operates using the propulsion engines for navigation, with generators supplying power to the electrical systems. In electric mode, the main engines are off, and the generators power the electric motors, allowing the yacht to travel at approximately 8 knots with reduced noise levels. And in shaft generator mode, the propulsion engines supply power to the electric motors, allowing the generators to be turned off for increased efficiency.

The hybrid system, which includes a battery pack to prevent blackouts, provides propulsion and electrical power flexibility. The yacht is certified with a Green Certificate for its hybrid propulsion as well as for its reduction of emissions at sea.
