A conglomerate of experts from a diverse range of industry fields have come together to form a full service company with a new attitude to the Australian market.

The company has been developed by specialists in brokerage, charter, refit, new build and yacht support, to create a full service superyacht house which doesn’t dilute expertise across any of its sectors.

The team will be on show at this year’s Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show with an 86’ Sunseeker Yacht, and 58’ Riviera 5800 Sports Yacht, as well as a VIP lounge for the Australian market to get a taste of their innovative approach to the superyacht market.

Directors Scott Wellington-Stones, Sean Madgwick and Damienn Plahn bring more than half a century of combined experience to Yachtsmen International which offers brokerage, charter, refit and service, new build, yacht agency and crew placement services, having gathered an in-house team around them who have finely-honed skills in each field.

The team combines their international experience with an ethos of innovation, honesty and hard-work, but the real strength of the Yachtsmen is that they know because they do.

“We offer a wide range of services which make up what we do – but the reason we’re able to do them well is because of who we are,” says Wellington-Stones.

“At our core, we’re Yachtsmen, and each member of our team uses their innate knowledge of the ocean to ensure our clients experience the superyacht industry in a way that’s enjoyable, safe and sustainable.”

Yachtsmen International takes a full life-cycle approach to the yacht market. The range of services mean they can deliver service from the time a client charters their first yacht to when they take the plunge and buy a yacht, to refitting that yacht, building a new one, crewing it, travelling with it, chartering it and then selling it on.

Refit work is completed to ICOMIA standards, with accreditation via MYBA and ISO underway, and the company provides refit facility options across Cairns, Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Yamba with access to travel lifts to 600T. Yachtsmen International also brings its more than 50 years of in-house engineering, IT, galley, deck and interior systems management and repair experience to bear on behalf of its clients, to offer a transparent, tailored approach to both new build and refit.

With 24 years in management and 18 years within the international superyacht industry, Plahn uses his experience acquiring and managing multi-million dollar contracts, complex new builds, refits and critical engineering projects to make the process easy and smooth for clients, while on the water his favourite cruising destination is the Republic of Palau.

Madgwick combines his corporate insurance brokering, marketing and 12 years superyacht brokering nous with his attention to detail to provide ethical, intelligent service throughout the entire buying and selling process for his purchasers and vendors. His extensive experience with new build and design in northern Europe and Asia has made him an expert in bridging the gap between owners wants and needs with manufacturers. When he’s not doing that, his favourite place to cruise is along the Amalfi coast.

Wellington-Stones uses his 17 years experience marketing and selling superyachts as well as his extensive experience with new build and design in the US and Europe to advise purchasers and charter clients on the vessels which will match how they spend their time on the water. His vast knowledge of the market allows him to skillfully match the right yacht for his clients, whether for sale or charter. Having explored various parts of the world, his preferred charter location is the Bahamas.
