With the sun-soaked backdrop of the cruising playground of Hamilton Island and the Whitsundays, Alexander Marine Australia held its annual Whitsunday Get Together, spoiling 100 customers and friends with three days of non-stop fun over the October long weekend.

Many guests arrived in their own boats after a stint at Race Week or extended coastal cruising from southern states, while other guests flew in from around Australia for the now legendary event.

First on the card was the welcome cocktail party held at a hill-top island mansion with captivating water views.

Director, Todd Holzapfel commenced proceedings, thanking clients for their support throughout 2019 and for attending this year’s event, and the ‘Rock Bottom’ band entertained guests into the night with their rendition of classic tunes.

A dedicated Chef created the Hors d’oeuvres and a signature cocktail which set the tone for the long weekend of exquisite culinary creations.

For a handful of guests, this was their first “Get Together” experience, and the camaraderie unique among boaties quickly enveloped them, while the warm and welcoming AMA team had a series of fun-filled activities on the itinerary that would please every preference.

Saturday was the scheduled beach day, and the choice of beach was none other than the world-renowned Whitehaven Beach. The fleet of Ocean Alexander vessels joined owners’ boats to a picturesque anchorage with perfect vistas from every vantage point.

Guests were shuttled ashore to be greeted by a beach bar and Chef underway with what would be a gourmet banquet on the dazzling white sand of what could only be described as a boaties’ paradise.

The Ocean Alexander vessels, including the 70e, 88 Skylounge and remarkable 45 Divergence, held special attention for guests, particularly those new to the brand.

Comments centred around the hallmarks of Ocean Alexander’s “unmatched fit and finish”, innovation, impeccable engineering and advanced levels of customisation.

New in 2019, the Ocean Alexander 45 Divergence turned heads wherever she roamed and provided the ultimate fast transfer vessel for guests wanting to zip between activities! The 70e proved to be an excellent entertainer throughout the weekend with guests taking advantage of the multiple entertaining zones including the cockpit, expansive flybridge and foredeck lounge.

A true superyacht, the Ocean Alexander 88 skylounge impressed with her overall spaciousness, and ultra-smooth whisper quiet skylounge – even at 18 knots on the way back to Hamilton Island to showcase her fast cruise speed capability.

Cid Harbour was the idyllic venue for Sunday’s raft up, and under clear blue skies and not a breath of wind, the flotilla anchored in the azure waters for yet more celebrations of the boating lifestyle.

The expedition Motor Yacht ‘Texas T’ acted as the anchor vessel and entertainment HQ, and the ‘Rock Bottom’ band rocked the boat while the fine food and cold beverages flowed.

The kids took over the jacuzzi on the aft deck of the Ocean Alexander 88 Skylounge, while the rest of the guests danced, socialised and spun yarns of their seafaring prowess until the sun dipped over the horizon and stars dotted the night sky.

Amid the revelry, emerged many coincidences in common, as is the case among boaties, and many bonds forged over the three days will flourish into the next cruising adventure.

For the team at Alexander Marine Australia, this annual get together is the opportunity to mix and mingle with customers and newcomers to the brand and showcase the diversity of the Ocean Alexander line-up. For guests, it’s the perfect excuse to take a break from the working routine, head north to tropical climes and live it up and little with friends, old and new – the “Schoolies for grown ups” as one guest put it!

Planning for the Alexander Marine Australia 2020 Whitsundays Get Together is already underway and dates will be announced soon.
