CL Yachts has been awarded two 2019 GOOD DESIGN Awards, presented by the prestigious Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design.

The first award commended CL Yachts’ CLB88 Flybridge Motor Yacht in the transportation category, and the second award celebrates CL Yachts’ New Corporate Identity and Coordinated Branding and Visual Communication Program in the graphic design category.

Now in its 69th year, GOOD DESIGN is one of the most prestigious awards programs organised worldwide. In late 2019, a jury met in Los Angeles and New York to consider a record number of submissions, deciphering which product designs and graphics were worthy of a GOOD DESIGN award for their achievement in extraordinary design excellence.

CL Yachts, and their design firm partner Jozeph Forakis Design, were included in the pool of leading manufacturers, industrial and graphic design firms and influential corporations awarded. Specifically, the criteria for the awards are established on the “highest aesthetic in terms of innovative design, new technologies, form, materials, construction, concept, function, utility, energy efficiency, and sensitivity to the environment.”

“At CL Yachts, we are thrilled to be the recipient of two 2019 GOOD DESIGN Awards,” says Martin Lo, director of CL Yachts.

“Not only is it a prestigious honour, but it is also a validation of our journey as a company thus far. When we began this journey two years ago, we had a strong vision for CL Yachts — to advance the luxury performance experience into uncharted territories, and to design with modern explorers in mind.

“Jozeph Forakis and the Jozeph Forakis Design team understood that vision and were vital in the process of bringing it to life, both through our brand identity and through our vessels, in a holistic and cohesive way.”

On behalf of CL Yachts, Jozeph Forakis and his multi-talented team sought to create the definitive, contemporary reinterpretation of the quintessential flybridge motor yacht for the CLB88.

The vessel champions an inviting open layout and perfectly balanced proportions as well as clean, fluid lines and precision-cut details.

“The design is unique, fresh, modern and exciting – and yet fits most people’s idea of what a state-of-the-art luxury yacht should be,” Forakis said of the boat.

The designers involved in the CLB88 Flybridge Motor Yacht project include Jozeph Forakis, Raffaelino Farina, Deok San Lee, Claudia Renate Mantik, Prima Ramanuj and Nikolai Rizo, all of Jozeph Forakis Design.

For CL Yachts’ New Corporate Identity and Coordinated Branding and Visual Communication Program, the Jozeph Forakis Design team built CL Yachts’ branding around the hallmarks of simplicity, authenticity and honesty. At the core of the new coordinated visual identity is the elegant, balanced and modern yet enduring graphic logo mark, designed to project the company’s driving principle: the uncompromising pursuit of innovation and timeless values.

Designers recognised for the accolade include Jozeph Forakis, Cagil Aygen, Marina Bonanno and Martina Biondi, all of Jozeph Forakis Design.
